Sai Krushna Mandir Children's Home-Construction Updates

THE MAKING OF SAI KRUSHNA MANDIR- CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Phase 2 after completion
With the Divine Blessings and grace of our Beloved Swami, the ground floor of Phase 1 of the children’s home – Sai Krushna Mandir – is to be inaugurated on 23rd November, 2012. While there are numerous challenges, the SKM construction team is working to ensure that the foundation, construction and funding are all moving along expected timelines.
By Swami’s grace the ground floor roof work for Phase 1 of Sai Krushna Mandir was completed in the second week of September. The first floor roof is expected to be completed by the second week of September.

The dry summer in Southern India had been a cause of concern. This year Bangalore has witnessed much lesser rains than normal. After the initial showers in August, the rains have been very scarce.  In fact the bore wells of two of the nearby villages- Sadhanpalya and Hosadoddi had both dried up. By Swami’s grace, the water for both these villages was provided from the bore well of Sai Krushna Charitable Trust. It has been more like Swami initiating a water project for these two villages even without anyone understanding its need. The bore of Sai Krushna Charitable Trust shall continue to provide water to the 200 odd homes of these villages until another bore well is successfully identified in these villages. This may take about 1-2 months. This has also led to much goodwill from the villagers as they thanked Swami for being the saviour in this time of need.
Students joining hands in helping the construction workers
We are also very happy that in September, many Sai students from the Sarvajith batch(2008 pass outs) came to the construction site and the school. They were all happy to see the work in progress and have  expressed an intention to participate in this mission on an ongoing basis.
As mentioned in the previous update, the common areas have all been clearly demarcated. On the 22nd of September, the ground floor roof of the building was laid and the work for the first floor is now on. Electrical, plumbing and other diagrams have been sorted out and we are also looking to implement solar lighting and heating solutions for Phase 1. This is expected to save operational costs in the long run and also be environment friendly. The lighting will support hybrid power sources- solar and electric – to ensure proper lighting even on rainy days. The members of the SKM construction team are also making frequent site visits to monitor the quality and quantum of progress.
Our construction consultants, the civil contractor Mr Umesh and members of the SKM construction team are all satisfied with the rate of progress and quality of construction. Kindly see the attached photos. We are working to ensure good safety standards by not allowing children near the site. Children of the construction workers are attending the Sharavathi Higher Primary school while their parents go to work. Marking the occasion of Ganesh chaturthi, clothes were also distributed for all the construction workers.

Phase 1 : Ground floor roof has been laid
We look forward to all your active involvement and participation in this God given opportunity. We also welcome you to come and visit the site and witness the making of Sai Krushna Mandir. From our side, we will keep you updated through Venugaanam and the website. You are free to contact us directly for any further information. We are confident that, just as Swami’s bounteous blessings ensured the procurement of excellent drinking water and land, Swami’s grace will crown our genuine intentions and He will continue to guide and bless the entire effort.
