1.
Amman Doll: This is a very old doll repainted since the original paint had started peeling off. Instead of throwing away the old dolls we can bring life to the doll by repainting & varnishing it thereby restoring its beauty.
If we know
to draw we can draw by free hand stroke otherwise we can trace a image in the
glass. You can use glass outliner to
trace in the glass. Using glass colour available in market we can paint new
designs.
Porcelain Jars: These are old jars which are
used for storing pickles & Tamarind on those days by our ancestors. These days it is rare to see these jars in
households used for the above purposes.
Therefore we can utilize these jars for creating a beautiful flower vase
by painting it and creating flower by using shilpakar clay.
In most
of our houses we use Polythene bag for garbages. Instead of throwing away these bags we can
make beautiful flowers out of it and keep it as decoration. It is a very simple
process and we can make use of these polythene bags henceforth.
Key
Chain Holder using Wood: You can draw a outline design in a paper and
ask your nearby carpenter to cut it in wood to the outline design and by using
shilpakar clay we can give the life to the outline design and paint it using
pearl metallic colours. And use this
above as a key chain holder.
Where it all began: It started in 2008 when we
had moved in to a new house, the previous tenant of that house left behind an
old Krishna doll
with paint chipping out. I liked the
doll and i did not want to throw it so i decided to repaint it and restore it
to new look. This is how i came to know that i had a flair for arts &
crafts. I wanted to take my creativity to the next level during the Navaratri
Season from 2009 onwards. Apart from the regular Kolu dolls showcased during
the festival we created a Theme for every Kolu festival. It was a Park in 2009,
then Trilokam in 2010 and finally
Parvathy Kalyanam in 2011. A lot
of effort was taken right from the concept till the outcome of the effort. Most
of the Creations were crafted by me like the artificial flowers, mountains, park
,yagakundam and Shivalingam which was handcrafted and showcased during the 2010
festival. I take this opportunity to showcase some of my kolu creations.
Kolu Creations 2009: Theme- Park
Kolu Creations 2010: Theme- Trilokam and Shivalingam
Kolu Creations 2011: Theme - Parvati Kalyanam
